GSOC President’s Update - January 2019
Happy New Year!!
GSOC Racers are off to a great start, placing FIRST in our division after the first race of the season last month at Appalachian Ski Mountain! Our team will be at Sugar Mountain the weekend of January 5, where conditions are expected to be challenging due to the warm temperatures and rainfall on the slopes. Still, GSOC racers know how to adapt in all weather conditions and win! Results and re-caps of our races are available to members and are posted on our Race Director Blog.
Our January Membership Social will be held at Sammy G's Tavern in High Point on Wednesday, January 9th at 5:30pm. This event will feature guests from the Oak Hollow Sailing Club, many of whom are also members of GSOC! One of our goals as a club is to stay active outside the winter ski season. Whether you're volunteering as a crew member during a regatta, or taking your own boat out for a day sail, it has proven very popular among our members. So come on down to High Point and introduce yourselves to our friends at OHSC!
We're also getting a head start on planning an exciting Summer Ski Trip in July/August 2020 to Valle Nevado Resort in Chile! Local trips to Wintergreen and Silver Creek are also being considered as conditions improve, introducing new members to the sport of skiing and providing more economical options for members to take advantage of. Check our website for updates.
